(More customer reviews)Like others, I became a convert to the breakaway collar for my dogs after a close call. The two dogs were playing and one got it's jaw caught under the other's collar. One was being strangled by the torque from the struggling caught dog and the struggling dog ended up with a lacerated lip.We were lucky that someone was home to intervene.
The pros: peace of mind, rugged construction, product delivers as it promises.
The cons: you cannot use the collar to pull your dog away from a situation; the collar WILL break away! And I have had to replace one since it broke away while I was gone and is lost in the brush somewhere (thank goodness my dog is not lost also!)
Even with this issue, I give this product 5 stars; you just have to use it as it was intended. If I take my dog to a dog park or the beach, I replace the collar with a traditional one since I will be there to watch and I want to be able to physically retrieve a dog if I need to. But I truly love this product!
