We were taking a walk and this harness couldn't handle a little pull. The size is also very small. I don't know how they measure to declare this as large.

(More customer reviews)I have extra large dogs and this is a nice collar for every day use. Although I don't keep a collar on the dogs when they are playing in the back yard, this collar is good for general use outside of heavy play. The martingale collar functions as a collar and as a choke. However, if you have extra large dogs--this is not going to prevent you from using some arm muscles and digging your heels into the grass if the dog decides to take off. There isn't enough of a "choke" effect for the dog to notice. I had used it on a 200 lb wolfhound who would shy at strange objects on walks--this could be a fire hydrant that he hadn't noticed, a new blow up Christmas decoration at holiday time--and the collar would not hold him by my side as he shied or tried to take off from the strange object. The collar did work well on a medium size dog and a 150 lb wolfhound that did not have the fears of the 200 lb wolfhound. I like them in the house because I can control the dog if necessary, i.e., pull them off the day bed or couch when they are insisting they don't want to get up!

Single Ply Nylon Collar 3/8" x 10" Red Review

(More customer reviews)I bought a whole bunch of these little 10 inch pet collars because they were really inexpensive at $2 each. I'm using them as luggage tag straps, not as pet collars. For my purposes, they are fine because they are still made of strong nylon webbing and the buckle is firmly attached. The colors are good standard primary colors, and the buckle is a normal silver colored metal.
But I've purchased similar ones in the past from supermarkets and pet stores (probably made in China . . .) and the finishing on these is truly inferior. So just in case you're fussy about how nice the collar looks on your pet, here are the appearance issues. The collar's holes (for size adjustment) really look like amateur time: 1) they are four times larger than they need to be, 2) they are all sort of irregularly shaped, like someone punched each one by hand with a tool that wasn't sharp enough, and 3) the holes are spaced about an inch apart -- completely unsuitable for fitting the collar on a small cat or dog!! In addition, the end of the strap is just cut straight across, not rounded off or tapered like the better ones.

Premier Collar (Large, 3/4") Review

(More customer reviews)It's only my opinion, but this type of collar, a Martingale, is the very best one I have ever used. And I've owned alot of dogs. The collar slips over the head and cinches like a choker collar, without choking! Easy on, easy off. My newest puppy doesn't have to wear her collar all the time. The colour is vibrant. I looked all over the internet for a light purple collar and I am really glad I found this source.
I'm going to buy a Martingale collar for each of my dogs.
